Guy Gerber, born in Tel Aviv, and based in Ibiza, is a multidisciplinary artist integrating primarily photography, painting, and collage; at times integrating film and sound. He is known for his utilization of mirrors for both literal and metaphorical purposes to examine universal notions and practices that we all experience intimately with ourselves when no one is watching: those of self-awareness, introspection, self-reflection, and contemplation of the relationship with oneself, with others, and an assessment of one’s place in the world. Through his use of mirrors, Gerber not only captures images but also captures the essence of our shared quest for validation and understanding. This interplay of reflections and shadows in Gerber’s work stimulates a profound exploration of self-discovery and personal and collective identity.
Until only recently, Guy Gerber’s visual arts pursuits came secondary to his prolific career as a globally renowned DJ and producer in the electronic music industry. Music has been the creative vehicle through which he has transmitted his thoughts, his feelings, his soul to the world through his deep, emotive soundscapes and melodic compositions that blend techno with progressive house.
While he found opportunities to weave his artistic projects with his music endeavors - such as integrating his ”Wisdom of the Glove” artistic project into his Pacha Ibiza residency in 2013, his immersive art experience titled “Mirror Games” as part of his 2022 Summer residency in Ibiza; and featuring his first digital work titled “Invisible Trails” in Christie’s auction house’s “Next Wave: The Miami Edit” curated exhibition at Faena Forum during Art Basel Miami Beach week 2023 - these were only fleeting instances of a greater, more tangible and enduring artistic vision that he aspired to bring to life on a grander scale.
Now, the multidisciplinary creative is bringing these ambitions to the forefront with full commitment and conviction, giving the artist within himself the deserved time and space to live and breathe; existing in parallel with his music career.
His first released artwork titled “Blind Date” (2024) was sold for $50,000 at auction at Gala One in 2024, providing a strong foothold for his artistic journey, and setting a precedent for what was to come going forward.
Fast-forward to Art Dubai 2025 international art fair, Guy Gerber held his inaugural exhibition featuring a collection of works titled “I’ll Be Your Mirror: Journey Through The Shields of Reflection,” a private show presented to a small group of art world executives, collectors, media, VIPs and close friends. The selection of works explored the juxtaposing use of mirrors in both literal and metaphorical senses: as shields of protection on the one hand, or as gateways and passages on the other; as instruments that can either obscure and distort perception, or that have the power to reveal overt truths. This duality invites viewers into a reflective dialogue on the nature of visibility and the essence of concealment.
With the success of his private exhibition in Dubai, Guy Gerber is gearing up to present his first short-run public exhibition featuring an entirely new collection of works this September during New York Fashion Week featuring an entirely new collection. The new set of works will be a continuation of his ongoing experimentation with the interaction between and intersection of the mirror, the muse or subject, the environment, the artist and the audience.
